The Best Smartphones

We can geek out all we want, but the best way to choose is a phone is not just by the hardware or the OS, but the phone and the carrier. Here's the smartphone to pick on each... for now.

Best AT&T Phone
Apple's iPhone 4S is the slightly-flawed champion. (October, 2011) If you want to take a crack at Windows Phone (and we recommend that you do!) the Nokia Lumia 900 is the way to go (April 2012). Want an Android? Then the HTC One X is for you. (June 2012)

Best Sprint Phone
We recommend the iPhone 4S for Sprint, too, but the HTC Evo 4G LTE is a great alternative for Android fans. It absolutely screams. (June 2012)

Best T-Mobile Phone
Still no iPhone in T-Mobile land, so the speedy, sturdy HTC One S is undisputed champ.

Best Verizon Phone
It's the iPhone 4S on Verizon as well, but we're comfortable calling the Galaxy Nexus the best Android phone. But that's only because it's the only Android phone you can get with a clean build of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and that supersedes all of its faults. And the Verizon LTE version is faaaaast.
